Healing Through Food: Culturally-Informed Postpartum Meal Planning to Nourish Families and Build Resilience

Food is more than nourishment—it’s a powerful tool for healing, connection, and cultural identity during the transformative postpartum period. This session will equip doulas with practical, evidence-based meal-planning strategies that honor the diverse cultural traditions of the families we serve. We’ll explore how postpartum nutrition supports physical and emotional recovery while examining the impact of systemic inequities on access to nourishing foods. Attendees will gain tools to advocate for culturally responsive care and guide families in creating postpartum meal plans rooted in both nutritional science and cultural wisdom. This session qualifies for 1.5 (DONA/DEI/CA-BRN) contact hours.
