About the Summit

There’s something special about a DONA International in-person conference, and yet, it’s also exciting to be a part of a virtual experience as well. This year, DONA International takes conference innovation forward, by offering both! For the first time ever, the DONA International Summit will be offered as a two-part event.

The in-person summit will take place in Fort Lauderdale, FL, from July 19-21, 2018, with a follow up virtual summit for online viewing after. The in-person Summit begins on Thursday, July 19 @ 5pm EST and ends on Saturday, July 21, late afternoon (exact time TBD).

This year marks our 24th conference; it’s a chance for doulas from across the globe to gather and cultivate new connections while gaining insight into our ever-evolving profession. Combined the two events will offer over 25 educational contact hours that are accepted by DONA International for recertification as well as many other related organizations.

About Our Speakers

The DONA International Speaker Selection Committee is hard at work cultivating an excellent speaker line-up for both the in-person as well as the virtual summit. We’ll be pursuing topics relevant to birth and postpartum doula work as well as current maternity trends and updates. You can expect practice related sessions to enhance your doula skills, as well as practical business sessions to enhance your doula business. We’ll also explore hot topics, such as activism, and the impact it has on maternal health. Check back for speaker announcements and updates regularly!

Continuing Education Credits

The DONA International Summit is one way we continue to provide the highest standard of evidenced-based training and education to our members. The core conference qualifies as formal continuing education for doula recertification and trainer reapproval with DONA International, as well as most other childbirth certification organizations. However, it is the registrant’s responsibility to ascertain whether this offering meets the requirements of other certifying organizations. Attending all sessions for both the in-person and virtual event will equal over 25 contact hours.
