Client Centered Care: Confidentiality, Communication, & Cultivating Awareness

As doulas, we are entrusted with intimate details of our clients’ lives, making confidentiality, communication, and client needs recognition fundamental to our practice. Balancing confidentiality, communication, and awareness of client needs can be challenging. This session provides the ethical and practical considerations of client-centered care, emphasizing how to create a safe, respectful, and informed space for the families we serve.

In this interactive session, participants will learn how to navigate confidentiality challenges, foster effective and compassionate communication, and cultivate a heightened awareness of their clients’ unique needs, backgrounds, and preferences. Through real-life scenarios, role-playing, and lots of fun and effective learning, attendees will leave with actionable strategies that help doulas to better center clients, protect their privacy and prevent miscommunication. This session is a great opportunity to refine skills that position you as a well-respected professional in your community. This session qualifies for 1.5 (DONA/CA-BRN) contact hours.
